SPE Turkey Section

The 8th SPE Turkey Section Annual Student Paper Contest was done on 14 June 2008 at METU Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department. The jurors were Hakkı Gücüyener, Hüseyin Savaşçı, Umur Tezcan, Latif Vrana, İnanç Türeyen and Evren Özbayoğlu. The winners were;

BSc Division:

  • The 5th SPE Turkiye Section Annual Student Paper Contest was done on 9 November 2001 at METU Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department. The jurors were Can Bakiler, Hakan Eser, Bumin Gürses, Erol Memioğlu, Umur Tezcan and Mete Topgüder.

    In BSc division, İrtek Uraz from METU won the prize award. His paper's title is "A Java program to Optimize Kinetic Parameters of Organic Matter".

    In MSc division, Çağlar Sınayuç from METU won the prize award. His paper's title is "Prediction of the Phase Behavior of a Gas-Condensate System: Computer Modeling Study".

    In BSc division, Hüseyin Ali Doğan from METU won the prize award. His paper's title is "Equilibrium Conditions for Hydrate Formation from Binary Mixtures of Methane and Carbon Dioxide".

    In MSc division, Uğur Karabakal from METU won the prize award. His paper's title is "Determination of Wettability and Its Effect on Waterflood Performance in Limestone Medium".

  • The new Board of Directors was elected on June 27, 2000.

  • Tore Blaker gave a lecture about "Foam for Gas Shut Off and Mobility Control" on 10 April 2000 at TPAO Research Center Conference Room.

  • David Triolo gave a lecture about "Sajaa Field Horizontal, Dual-Lateral Drilling Program" on 12 January 2000 at TPAO Research Center Conference Room.

  • 2000 SPE President John A. Colligan visited Turkiye Section and gave a presentation to the members of the Turkiye Section on 20 October 1999 at TPAO Research Center Conference Room.
